Our Story

Addict’s Voice was founded in 2019 by two Ladies on a mission, a mission of saving souls!

Since then the team has exploded and now more than ever we find ourselves relentless to the cause, dedicated, addicted to saving souls!

Addict’s voice (NPC) was birthed from our street ministry

(Fearless Life Ministries NPC 2019/087253/08), with passion and empathy for active users. Together with our street ministry and feeding schemes, it creates an opportunity for us to spend time on the streets, sitting next to our street addicts, with a warm meal, building relationships.

We get to know them, they get to know us, building trust and respect. As our trust strengthens, they know when and how to get hold of us and it’s at this point that they trust us enough to say “please help me, I need to get clean”.

Up until now we have managed to team up with rehabilitation centres across South Africa. Finding sponsorships and grace beds for our Addicts that desperately want and need help.

As time has gone by we have seen phenomenal recoveries and restorations, we have seen relapses as well as souls we’ve lost. We have also seen the families behind the addicts, and the devastation and destruction that affects the children, mothers, fathers and spouses that walk the road with the addicts.

Addicts Voice has declared war on our drug infested streets. We have taken a stand against drugs, street prostitution and our girls being sold within the ring we find ourselves in.

We will stand in the gap for parents that have lost their children to the streets. Where you have become exhausted to fight this fight, we will stand! We offer help and hope to the desperate cry.

We aim to inspire, educate and relate to all those affected by the epidemic of drug and alcohol abuse. We are changing the face of addiction. Assisting in breaking the chains of addiction through rehabilitation and aftercare.

Our Obstacles

During our time on the streets and removing our street addicts and placing them in rehabilitation centres we realised that the detox is different, the recovery process for the street addicts are different, their mind-sets, their survival, the aftercare, and the reintegration back into society is different. They needed a different approach to getting clean. As many of our street addicts have been disowned by their families, written off and they have nothing to return to. This is where we fail. Yes there are halfway houses, but in these cases finances will always be an obstacle. And so they return to the streets.

When we started our outreach programme I remember feeling so frustrated and emotional to the financial obstacles we faced. “So if you can afford rehabilitation you are worth the effort”. That means every homeless person, every street addict, every street child will never have the opportunity to recover from their circumstances due to finances… which they do not have. They will also never be given the opportunity because they are not worth investing in, and so the homelessness continues to grow, the addictions continue to grow and life on the streets, survival on the streets become the norm. This was just not good enough for us, it will never be good enough!

We are not blind to the hustle of the street life but if one life could be saved and their destinies altered, we have won.

Lifestyle & Skills Development Centre

As we have worked the streets, spent time with active users, done time in rehabilitation centres, seen the success rates and recognised the short fall the system has shown. Addict’s Voice would like to head up a Lifestyle Skills Development Centre specifically reaching out to our streets, facilitating change by providing skills and tools to overcome, changing lives and setting them up for a better more prosperous future.

God has given us a mission, a mandate. We needed to spend as much time on the streets to learn and understand what these addicts needed in order to make their recovery sustainable. Relapsing for us are just not in the cards. There are gaps that can be filled, we have identified them and now we need to run with it.

Except that the rehabilitation for our street addicts are different, the biggest problem we face is in the aftercare. Enough money has been spent on rehabilitation and no care and support goes into the aftercare or skills development of the recovered addict and their families, simply because of the availability of funds.

From a spiritual point of view we want to give them a face to face encounter with the one and only living God. We want the chains of addiction to be broken. We want to see this journey through from beginning to end, from sitting with them on the streets to developing skills in order not to just survive but to flourish, to finding work and starting their own businesses, reuniting families.

The centre will offer Lifestyle change, Personal development, Relapse Prevention programs, Skills development, assisting in accredited and certified qualifications, job creation and or business start-up. Our Skills development programs will equip with the necessary tools and needed skills to overcome life’s obstacles. Reigniting the fire and desire to wake up to a life that they just can’t wait to live, a life filled with meaning, living their best life, producing extraordinary results, being ecstatic and proud of who they have become, all in a trusted and safe environment
